Encounter Ecuador

Baños + Puyo

day 1 Saturday

 Pre- night in Quito

After landing in the city’s capital, you will be driven to the exciting and fun Selina Hostel in Quito (you won’t get bored here!), where you can check into your dorm and meet fellow travelers. Here, will also receive a meet and greet with one of our team members, who will explain and give all necessary information to you and will be your contact person throughout this exciting journey through Ecuador. Please keep in mind that you will be at a high altitude (2800 meters), so take it slow the first few days and cut back on the drinking and partying in order to avoid altitude sickness.

day 2 sunday

 Arrival in Baños

On your second day, you will be transferred to the bus terminal where you will take a bus on your own account to Baños. After an aprox. 3.5 hour bus drive you will arrive in Baños, the portal to the jungle. Here, you will check into a hostel where you will once again be staying in a comfy dorm.

Baños is a vibrant small town full of fun and surrounded by nature; being located at the edge of the Andes and at the start of the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle, it offers a great deal of activities to ensure you days and nights of fun, nice, interesting and adventurous experiences. The weather is very nice as it is located at 1200 m. On the other hand, it is also the perfect place if what you look for is relax and disconnect from the rumble and hustle of the city, enjoying a bath in natural hot springs with beautiful views, rent a bike to get to know the town or just take a nice walk around.

On Monday you will meet your teacher and companions at the hostel and you will start this fun learning process. Your classes are scheduled 4 hours a day from Monday to Friday. During your stay will also have 2 extra-curricular activities, that we have prepared for you: a half day Bike Tour and a half day Canopy bridge! Your teacher will explain you also the first day all the great places to visit in Baños for eating, drinking and dancing. Since you will have the weekend off before heading to Puyo, you will have plenty of time to discover this exciting city.

Day 9 Sunday

Transfer to Animal Rescue Centre in Puyo

Have you ever fed a parrot while inside their cage? Soon you will. Prepare to encounter magic. In the afternoon, you’ll say farewell to Baños and head to Puyo (on your own account by taking a bus from Baños to Puyo). Be sure to notice how quickly you will be encircled by beautiful jungle vegetation, notice a difference in the temperature and thicker air, and then realize that you have reached Yanacocha Animal Rescue Center. Prepare to forget about the bustling outside world and lose yourself for two weeks in this crazy yet wonderful paradise packed with daily breathtaking sights and activities that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Your first day will be spent getting to know everyone at Yanacocha, including its most vital members: the animals. Soon you will quickly become accustomed to your daily duties, which range from feeding the animals to cleaning cages and generally interacting with them.
